Orthodontic Treatment in India

Orthodontic Treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and their function. It also helps to look after the long-term health of the teeth, gums and jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all the teeth uniformly, while also making them easier to clean.

In some patients the upper front teeth can stick out and look unsightly. In others, the way the upper and lower jaws meet can cause teeth/face to appear asymmetric. Orthodontic treatment may be able to correct both the above situations and more relating to any and every discrepancy of the teeth and the jaws.

Common terminology used for orthodontic appliances are ‘braces’.Simple treatment may be carried out with a removable appliance (a plate that can be taken out). It has delicate wires and springs attached, which move the teeth using gentle pressure into the desired position.

It is possible to change the way the jaws develop in a growing child using functional orthodontic appliances. The appliance uses the power of your jaw muscles and helps position the jaws in a favorable position. A new technique using soft rubbery appliance called MYOBRACE is gaining popularity in decreasing the severity of the problem in children at an earlier age.

Fixed appliances is a combination of brackets bands and wires temporarily stuck to the teeth. These BRACES are of two types ; CERAMIC and METTALIC .Ceramic is a tooth colored appliance given for improved esthetics.

Newer technique of lingual braces has gained a lot of popularity. The brackets are placed on the back side of the teeth, and they are not visible from the front. Working just like traditional braces, lingual braces eventually straighten a patient’s teeth within the same amount of time metal braces would. Therefore, lingual braces are a great option for both adult professionals and teens who would feel more confident with invisibility—all while managing great dental health.
